A £1.25 million Fife Council investment has culminated in the opening of Fife Golf Trust's new state-of-the-art golf course maintenance depot at Glenrothes Golf Course.
The bespoke hub is designed to overhaul maintenance operations, equipment storage and deployment across the Trust's seven courses, improving efficiency while underpinning the long-term sustainability of the facilities.
The depot features modern workshop spaces for sharpening, servicing, repair and preparation of the Trust's extensive maintenance machinery. By centralising these activities, staff time can be redirected to presenting courses to the highest possible standard.
The development also advances the Trust's environmental goals. The building is fitted with solar panels and set up to accommodate a new fleet of electric and hybrid machinery, with dedicated charging points to support cleaner, greener operations.
The project is expected to deliver a 60–70% reduction in fuel consumption and related carbon emissions, alongside lower servicing and maintenance costs. Enhanced facilities should enable equipment to be maintained and prepared more efficiently, maximising availability and productivity.
Fife Golf Trust has a multi-award-winning record on environmental sustainability, and the new depot represents a significant investment in the future resilience, efficiency and sustainability of golf facilities across Fife.
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council's Spokesperson for Communities and Leisure, said: "This £1.25 million investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting high-quality golf facilities across Fife while helping deliver our environmental ambitions.
"Public golf courses play an important role in ensuring the game remains accessible and affordable for local people of all ages and abilities. By investing in the facilities and infrastructure that support our courses, we're helping protect these valued community assets and ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come."
Neil Crooks, Chairman of Fife Golf Trust's Board added: "The completion of this facility marks a significant milestone for Fife Golf Trust. It provides the infrastructure needed to support our teams across all seven courses, improves how we maintain and manage our equipment, and strengthens our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
"This investment will help us deliver long-term operational benefits while continuing to provide high-quality golf courses for the communities and visitors we serve."
The facility is now fully operational and will support maintenance activities across all seven Fife Golf Trust courses.
