Shawbridge Arcade, delivered by Wheatley Group, CCG (Scotland) and Coltart Earley Architecture, was named Affordable Housing Development of the Year at a Glasgow ceremony last month. The scheme has transformed the former arcade site in Pollokshaws into 75 energy-efficient mid-market rental homes, contributing to the area’s wider regeneration.
Arc-Tech provided mechanical and electrical services and installed the development’s fire suppression systems as a member of the project team.
Its electrical package also included photovoltaic (PV) systems for all 75 homes, with each property assigned its own PV installation so renewable electricity feeds directly into the corresponding tenant’s home.
In total, 59 properties were fitted with three-panel PV arrays and 16 with two-panel arrays. All systems use JA Solar panels mounted on flat-roof ballasted frames on the roofs of their respective blocks. EV charging infrastructure did not form part of Arc-Tech’s scope on this project.
Further recognition has followed, with both Shawbridge Arcade and the Bellsmyre Regeneration project in Dumbarton shortlisted for the Inside Housing Development Awards 2026 in the Best Regeneration Project – Up to £21m category.
Bellsmyre, delivered in partnership with Caledonia Housing Association and ECD Architects, is part of the long-term transformation of the neighbourhood, delivering high-quality affordable homes while supporting broader community regeneration goals.
These accolades reflect the collaborative efforts of clients, consultants, contractors and specialist supply chain partners in delivering developments that provide lasting benefits for local communities. Arc-Tech congratulates all project teams involved and looks forward to the outcome of the Inside Housing Development Awards later this year.
