Wheatley will deliver 46 new affordable homes in Annan’s Newington area as part of a community-led regeneration, working in partnership with the JR Group.
The scheme will replace outdated housing with modern, energy-efficient properties designed to meet local needs.
Seventeen of the homes will be managed by Wheatley’s Livingwell service, helping people aged 55 and over to live independently while accessing support, wellbeing activities and opportunities to socialise.
All 46 homes will incorporate low-carbon technologies, including solar panels, energy-efficient heating systems and high levels of insulation to help keep tenants’ energy bills down.
Work on site is due to start on Monday, 12 October. Tenants are expected to begin moving in towards the end of 2027, with full completion scheduled by September 2028.
The project is supported by £7.7m from the Scottish Government.
Alex Lamb, Managing Director of Wheatley Homes South, said: "Starting work on site is a significant milestone for this regeneration and for the future of Newington.
"These new homes will provide high-quality, energy-efficient housing that reflects what local people told us they wanted to see as part of the regeneration of the area.
"We are grateful to our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council and to everyone in Annan who took the time to share their views throughout the process. We look forward to seeing these homes take shape and welcoming new tenants in the years ahead."
The regeneration is part of Wheatley’s wider investment programme across Dumfries and Galloway, which will see hundreds of new homes delivered across the region.
All Wheatley homes are advertised through Homes4D&G, the common housing register for Dumfries and Galloway.
