Future Talent Hub Unveiled At Scottish Construction Summit To Bridge Skills Shortfall

Construction News Image

The Scottish Construction Summit (SCS) has introduced the Future Talent Hub, a dedicated feature for this year’s event aimed at connecting emerging construction and housing talent with the organisations shaping Scotland’s built environment.

Run in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), the Hub will create a purpose-built space within Scotland’s largest construction gathering where businesses, training providers and education bodies can meet school pupils, college and university students, and apprentices actively considering careers in the industry.

The move addresses mounting pressures in the sector, including an ageing workforce, fewer young entrants and rising demand across the built environment. Rather than a standalone careers fair, the Hub is designed as a practical meeting point for employers and prospective recruits, giving exhibitors a targeted platform to showcase pathways and roles on offer.

The Future Talent Hub will run alongside the Scottish Construction Summit and Scottish Housing Summit on Thursday 22 October 2026 at Hall 5, SEC Glasgow. The free-to-attend event expects to attract thousands of industry professionals, more than 50 exhibitors and a line-up of headline speakers.

"There's been a real and growing gap in how we connect young people with the opportunities that exist across Scottish construction," said Raymond Carr, Commercial Director at Hero Media Investments Ltd, organiser of the Scottish Construction Summit. "The Future Talent Hub gives businesses, colleges and training providers a dedicated space to meet motivated individuals face to face, under one roof, at the moment they’re making decisions about their future. It’s a practical answer to one of the industry’s most pressing long-term challenges."

Organisations interested in exhibiting or engaging with future talent are encouraged to get in touch ahead of the event.

The Scottish Construction Summit is billed as Scotland’s largest meeting for the construction sector, bringing together senior leaders, contractors, developers, consultants, public sector decision-makers and supply chain professionals for a day of insight, innovation and networking.
