Insite Specialist Services, a division of Insite Group, has secured SCQF Level 6 qualification status from Qualifications Scotland for its Water Damaged Buildings Course — the first accredited programme of its kind in Scotland. The recognition sets a new benchmark for technical standards, safety and compliance across housing, property management and restoration.

Amid tighter scrutiny of living conditions, respiratory health and compliance frameworks such as Awaab's Law, landlords, housing associations, property managers and remediation contractors face growing pressure to tackle moisture and mould with rigorous, evidence-led methods.

Aimed at professionals overseeing remediation projects, the newly accredited course moves learners beyond basic awareness to applied, science-based practice. It develops the skills to diagnose sources of water ingress, interpret moisture data accurately, monitor progress and restore properties affected by leaks, persistent damp and microbial contamination.

Grounded in the Water Damaged Buildings – Training & Reference Manual, the syllabus covers core technical areas. Moisture in Buildings explores water damage awareness, root-cause diagnostics, accurate moisture measurement and thermodynamic drying principles. Ventilation & Air Quality addresses airflow fundamentals, assessment of domestic ventilation systems, noise considerations and moisture management to maintain healthy indoor environments.

Mould Awareness & Remediation examines fungal microbiology, health risks linked to damp conditions, mycotoxin clean-up and containment procedures, with clear alignment to Awaab's Law. Verification, Validation & Certification sets out rigorous testing protocols, empirical validation of structural drying and standards for issuing decontamination and drying certificates. Health, Safety & Compliance provides full guidance on COSHH, RAMS and appropriate PPE.
