The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), in partnership with CIH Futures, has introduced the Emerging Housing Champion Award to celebrate and encourage the next wave of leaders in the housing sector.

Created in memory of Jasmine Bosworth, who tragically passed away at the end of 2025, the accolade honours her contribution as a CIH Futures board member from 2021 to 2024 and her reputation for passion, integrity and dedication to residents.

Drawing on Jasmine's legacy, the award aims to recognise early career professionals who reflect her commitment, leadership and determination to improve communities.

CIH Futures chair Emma Gilbank said: "It feels fitting to launch this award in honour of Jasmine, whose integrity and passion for improving the lives of residents and communities shone throughout her career, and was invaluable to the work of CIH Futures. We hope the Emerging Housing Champion Award will help inspire the housing professionals of the future and continue the level of commitment Jasmine showed towards the sector."

Jasmine's husband, Liam Bosworth added: "Jasmine dedicated her working life to opening doors for future generations. Passionate, determined, and deeply committed, she worked tirelessly to help people understand the housing industry and the opportunities it could provide. She believed that knowledge, encouragement, and opportunity were essential to creating brighter futures.

"Jasmine was a strong advocate for housing association properties, recognising their vital role in providing safe, secure, and affordable homes for communities. Through her dedication, she inspired others to learn, grow, and make a difference. Jasmine's legacy lives on in the people she supported, the opportunities she created, and the lasting impact of her work."

Nominations are now open to CIH members who have been working in housing (paid or voluntary) for fewer than three years by the application deadline of 6pm, Friday 30 October.

Applicants should evidence standout achievement within their organisation, proactive ownership of their development and commitment to ongoing professional growth, alongside a genuine passion for housing.

A shortlist of ten will be revealed on Wednesday 18 November, after which those candidates will submit brief written responses to two set questions to demonstrate their vision, values and impact on the sector.

Three finalists will be invited to give a five-minute presentation at the CIH South West conference on Tuesday 9 February 2027, with the winner announced at the close of day one.

Alongside sector-wide recognition, the winner will receive a tailored package of professional development support to help them realise their leadership potential, plus opportunities to share insights across the sector.

CIH chief executive Gavin Smart said: "Working in housing isn't just a job, it's a vocation. Awards like Emerging Housing Champion are designed to encourage the potential we see throughout our sector, recognising the dedication and positive impact of early career professionals on the communities they serve."
