The Electric Heating Company (EHC) has gone back to basics with the launch of its latest boiler.
Bosses believe the new Comet System boiler, which is an updated version of its bestselling Comet PV, will prove even more popular with homeowners looking for simplicity over sophistication.
In electric heating, more features are not always better as installers, homeowners and building owners look for simple, reliable and cost-effective products.
"More features don't automatically make for a better installation," said David Barrett, chief executive of Blantyre-based EHC, which has grown into one of the UK's leading suppliers of energy-efficient electric heating and hot water products.
"It's worth asking: are we making heating more complicated than it needs to be?
"That's worth considering as heating systems keep getting more sophisticated, packed with extra controls, functions and settings meant to boost flexibility and efficiency."
While that will suit certain applications, when it comes to a lot of standard domestic jobs, it can add unnecessary complexity in the form of more components to juggle, more connections to make and more time spent commissioning, all of which slows the job down.
EHC has addressed all of those issues with the Comet System, an electric boiler that's been deliberately kept simple and cost effective, being up to £210 cheaper than the Comet PV.
"That doesn't mean cutting corners on performance or quality, though," said Barrett.
