The A7 near Langholm is set for carriageway resurfacing over 15 nights from Monday 28 September until the morning of Tuesday 17 October, Transport Scotland's operating company BEAR Scotland has announced.

Work will take place between 19:30 and 06:00 each night, excluding Saturday and Sunday nights, to reduce disruption.

A full road closure will operate nightly between Hawick and Canonbie. A signed diversion will be in place via the A698, A6088, B6357 and B7201, adding approximately 20 minutes and 7.7 miles to affected trips.

Local access for residents within the works area and access for emergency services will be maintained at all times. Relevant stakeholders have been notified in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These surfacing improvements will help to address the defects on the A7 and will improve the experience for motorists.

"It is essential for safety that we close the road during these works, however, we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact.

"We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding. We'll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible."
