Members of the public are invited to the Forth Bridges Contact & Education Centre in South Queensferry on Saturday 26 September for a special Doors Open Day exhibition.

Hosted by BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland, the event will include displays on the construction of the Queensferry Crossing, hands-on learning, bridge-themed activities for younger visitors, a showcase of Forth Bridges artwork and photography, the Scottish Roads Archive, a virtual reality demonstration and Forth Bridges merchandise.

Admission is free, however, proceeds from merchandise sales and commission on artwork and photography will be donated to BEAR Scotland's national charity partner, Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

A charity raffle will take place on the day, with attendees able to enter a prize draw for one of five trips for two to the top of the Queensferry Crossing’s main towers. Tickets cost £10, with all funds going to CHAS.

All 180 places on Doors Open Day tours inside the Queensferry Crossing deck are fully booked, following a public ballot that attracted over 5,000 applications. Any places freed up by no-shows on the day will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland's South East Bridges Manager, said: "Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural Queensferry Crossing Doors Open Day, we’re excited to invite the public back again this year for another look behind the scenes and to be raising funds to support the incredible work that CHAS does.

"The exhibition in the Forth Bridges education centre is set to be bigger and better than last year, with the addition of virtual reality footage from the bridges, and the opportunity to view and purchase stunning images from local artists.

"You have to attend in person to enter our charity raffle for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the top of the Queensferry Crossing. All are welcome and all proceeds go to CHAS, so please do come along and support this great cause!"
