SSEN Transmission And Balfour Beatty Volunteers Revamp Dundee Scout Hall

Construction News Image

Volunteers from SSEN Transmission and its principal contractor, Balfour Beatty, have helped spruce up a Scout hall in Dundee as part of ongoing community support linked to the Alyth–Tealing and Tealing–Westfield overhead line electricity transmission projects.

The team spent a day at Dundee Fintry Scouts Hall carrying out cleaning, clearing and painting to refresh the well-used community venue.

The visit builds on earlier assistance provided to the group, including donations of tables, chairs, team-building equipment and hi-vis vests to support Scout activities and events.

Gavin Marshall, Community Liaison Manager at SSEN Transmission, said: "We are committed to leaving a positive legacy in the communities where our projects are based, and it was fantastic to see colleagues from SSEN Transmission and Balfour Beatty come together to support Dundee Fintry Scouts.

"The Scout hall plays an important role in the local community, providing a welcoming space for young people to learn new skills, build confidence and make lasting friendships. We were delighted to lend a hand and help ensure the facility remains a great place for local Scouts for years to come."

Representatives from Dundee Fintry Scouts welcomed the support, which has improved the appearance of the hall and provided practical equipment that will benefit young people taking part in Scout activities.

The volunteers are part of the team delivering the Alyth to Tealing and Tealing to Westfield overhead line upgrade projects. These will uprate around 37 km of existing electricity transmission infrastructure from Tealing in Angus to Westfield in Fife, as well as a 14 km section between Alyth in Perthshire and Tealing.

The work forms part of SSEN Transmission's wider Pathway to 2030 investment programme to upgrade the north of Scotland's electricity network, supporting the growth of renewable energy and helping deliver Scotland's and the UK's energy security and clean power ambitions.
