Rural Stirling Housing Association (RSHA) has reiterated its determination to continue delivering affordable rented homes across Stirlingshire.

At its AGM in Callander, the association pointed to two recent developments: a completed scheme in Killearn that is now tenanted, and a project at Balmaha scheduled to finish next year. RSHA said the schemes underline its ongoing drive to provide much-needed affordable housing.

Newly released aerial photographs offer a first look at the progress in Balmaha since construction began at the start of the year. The £5.8 million development, being delivered by CCG, will provide 20 homes in a scenic setting on the shores of Loch Lomond.

In her address to the AGM, RSHA Chair Fiona Boath said: "We understand the importance of building new homes in our rural communities. The development at Balmaha is due to be completed in the spring of next year bringing more new homes to a community where they are so badly needed."

Fiona also set out the scale of investment in the association's existing homes across Stirlingshire.

Fiona said: "Whilst building new homes, we must not lose sight of our existing homes. Investment in our homes remains a priority, and during the year we completed window and external door replacements to 33 homes, upgraded heating systems in 42 homes, and carried out a range of other planned maintenance and major repair works across our properties.

"The total expenditure on maintenance and major repairs amounted to approximately £777,000, demonstrating our continued commitment to providing safe, high-quality homes for our tenants."

RSHA reported close collaboration with other organisations, notably Stirling Council and Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, describing both as "valued partners" in its work. It also continues to work with the East Loch Lomond Community Trust in relation to the Balmaha project.

Members also heard from keynote speaker Mary Taylor, former Chief Executive of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, who praised the contribution of housing associations in general and RSHA in particular for their role in delivering affordable homes.

Founded in 1990, RSHA has over three and a half decades delivered more than 700 homes for social rent, reflecting its longstanding commitment to rural housing.
