Site works have officially commenced for a new development of 23 affordable homes at Dargavel Village in Bishopton, delivered through a partnership between Sanctuary Scotland and Persimmon Homes.

To mark the start of construction, Sanctuary Scotland's Head of Development, Gordon Lee, was joined on site by Cllr Marie McGurk, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Communities and Housing Policy Board, and Chris Logan, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland.

The new scheme forms part of the broader Dargavel Village masterplan situated on the former BAE site. Positioned at the core of the growing community, the properties will sit alongside existing developments by Persimmon Homes and Charles Church.

The project will deliver 23 energy-efficient affordable properties, comprising eight two-bedroom cottage flats, seven two-bedroom mid-terrace houses, and eight three-bedroom end-terrace homes. Designed to cater to a variety of housing needs, each home will include solar PV panels to boost energy efficiency and assist in lowering household energy bills.

Supported by £2.7 million in grant funding from the Scottish Government, the scheme builds on Sanctuary Scotland's ongoing investment in the local area.
