Pine Place, a residential development in south Glasgow, has been named a finalist for this year’s Architects’ Journal (AJ) Architecture Awards.

In total, 123 projects have been shortlisted across 21 categories for the AJ Architecture Awards, the annual showcase of leading built projects in the UK. Shortlists are being unveiled throughout this week.

Housing is split into three categories. The Housing Project (up to £10 million) list features six schemes, including Pine Place, while five projects are shortlisted in Housing Project (£10–20 million) and nine in Housing Project (£20 million and over).

Developed on the former site of an NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde health centre, Pine Place was designed by Reiach and Hall and delivers 28 homes — a mix of flats and terraced houses for affordable rent — on behalf of New Gorbals Housing Association.

It is the latest example of the association’s transformative work and innovative design across south Glasgow over the past 35 years, including North Gate — designed by Page/Park and constructed by CCG — which received a coveted RIAS Award in 2024.

The AJ Awards judges, who are visiting every shortlisted scheme, include Open House founder Victoria Thornton, winner of this year’s AJ100 Contribution to the Profession prize; celebrated Czech-born architect Eva Jiricná; RCKa founding director Russell Curtis; Dow Jones director Biba Dow; V&A head of capital programme Ingrid Petit; Jas Bhalla Works principal Jas Bhalla; and strategist Daisy Froud.

Winners across the 21 categories, along with three special awards selected by the editors, will be announced at a celebratory dinner at the Royal Lancaster London on Thursday 26 November.
