Public Invited To View Council Housing Plans In Kirkcaldy’s Templehall

Fife Council is advancing plans to redevelop former community facility sites at Fair Isle Road, Dunearn Drive, Beauly Place and Alford Avenue to deliver high-quality, affordable housing that reflects identified local needs.

The project forms part of the wider Templehall regeneration programme and responds to housing pressures across Fife, following the Council's declaration of a housing emergency in 2024.

Current proposals include a mix of sheltered accommodation, wheelchair-accessible homes and larger family properties.

The preferred layout presently envisages 20 apartments within a sheltered housing development and 10 family and specialist homes, including wheelchair-accessible bungalows and larger family houses.

Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council's Housing Spokesperson, said: "These proposals represent a significant opportunity to deliver much-needed Council housing in Templehall while making the best use of sites that have become vacant following the move to the new community hub.

"The housing mix has been carefully designed to meet a range of local needs, including accommodation for older people, larger families and residents who require accessible housing.

"I would encourage anyone with an interest in the project specifically or with an interest in what is proposed in the local area to come along to the drop-in event to find out more and speak to the project team."

At the event, attendees will be able to review the latest plans, speak directly with the project team, and access information on parking arrangements and the anticipated timeline.

As part of the broader Templehall regeneration, options are being explored to retain and celebrate important elements of the former church and community facilities, with the aim of incorporating key heritage features into the development or surrounding public spaces where practical and affordable.

Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions. The session is informal and there is no need to book; residents can drop in at any time between 3pm and 7pm.

A planning application is being prepared and is expected to be submitted later this month, with opportunities for formal comments as part of the process.

Subject to planning approval and funding, construction is anticipated to begin in spring/summer 2027.
