Akela Construction has secured a series of new contracts worth £13.9 million across Scotland's residential sector during the first half of the year.
The company, part of the Akela Group, has been appointed to deliver groundworks and site preparation packages across four developments in the Central Belt, supporting the construction of almost 270 private, affordable and social homes.
In East Lothian, Akela Construction is working with Barratt Homes on a £5 million contract covering extensive earthworks, drainage and plotworks for 101 private homes in Tranent.
Work on the project began in December 2025 and is scheduled for completion in December 2027.
Akela has also been appointed by Taylor Wimpey East to deliver a £3.9 million package at Dolphingstone Phase 3 in East Lothian.
The contract covers earthworks, drainage and plotwork for 73 private homes. Work began in December 2025 and is expected to continue until August 2028.
In Uphall, West Lothian, Akela has secured a £4 million groundworks package from Dundas Estates for a mixed development of 75 private and affordable homes.
The works include earthworks, drainage, road construction, foundations, floor slabs, hard landscaping and the installation of a dedicated pumping station and rising main. The project is due for completion in February 2028.
In Glasgow, Akela is delivering a £1 million contract for AS Homes to support the construction of 19 social homes in Arden.
The project began in March 2026 and includes earthworks, drainage, foundations and slab construction, hard landscaping, road infrastructure and an offsite flood compensation area. Completion is scheduled for March 2027.
The contracts highlight Akela Construction's experience in delivering groundworks across a range of site conditions and housing developments, including projects involving complex infrastructure and multiple housing tenures.
