Clyde Gateway Net Zero Scheme Backs 60 Businesses

Clyde Gateway's Transition to Net Zero programme has passed the 60-business mark, celebrated at a packed networking event at Topgolf Glasgow that linked firms with expert support and peer networks across the region.

Businesses from across Glasgow and South Lanarkshire gathered last week for the latest session, which marked the programme surpassing support for more than 60 companies since its early 2024 launch.

The initiative has developed into a thriving support offer over the past two years, with events regularly selling out, waiting lists forming and rising demand for practical advice, specialist guidance and collaboration on the journey to net zero.

Nearly five years after Glasgow hosted COP26, the programme is illustrating how local partnerships can move organisations from ambition to delivery. Working with Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council, Skills Development Scotland and the University of Strathclyde, it convenes the expertise and networks businesses need to navigate an increasingly complex sustainability landscape.

The most recent event featured updates from Scottish Enterprise on sustainability support and from South Lanarkshire Council on business services, alongside a BEMCO case study showing how sustainability can be embedded in day-to-day operations to strengthen long-term resilience. Dedicated networking allowed delegates to connect directly with experts and peers, share experiences and explore future collaboration.

Fiona McLean, Business and Community Growth Project Manager at Clyde Gateway, said: "Five years on from COP26, businesses are no longer asking why net zero matters, they're asking how to make it happen in a way that works for their organisation.

"That's exactly what this programme is about. By bringing businesses together with expert organisations, local case studies and peer networks, we're helping businesses turn ambition into action. It's also creating a stronger, more connected business community that's better equipped to respond to future opportunities and challenges."

John McGregor, Works Manager at BEMCO, said: "Having attended most of the networking events since they began, I have found them very valuable. They provide a great opportunity for businesses to share experiences, learn from others and better understand the transition to net zero. The chance to meet people from different sectors has been especially useful for sharing ideas and building connections."
