United Infrastructure has officially opened a new office in Alness, marking a significant step in its Scottish expansion and backing SSEN Transmission's major investment in the north of Scotland's electricity network.

The Highlands base establishes a permanent presence in the region, enhancing project delivery capability and enabling ongoing support for local communities as the company grows within Scotland's power transmission and distribution sector.

Working in partnership with SSEN Transmission, the office will support the delivery of proposed critical power infrastructure across the Highlands and beyond. The move reflects United Infrastructure's long-term commitment to Scotland and its ambition to help build resilient networks for the UK's transition to a cleaner, electrified future.

The opening was attended by United Infrastructure's senior leadership and representatives from SSEN Transmission. Guests joined site visits to view progress on works linked to the Accelerating Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) programme, which is pivotal to delivering the infrastructure needed for Britain's electrification ambitions.

Catering for the event was provided by GroForYou, a local social enterprise operating from its new Community Innovation Campus in Tain. This formed part of United Infrastructure's wider social value focus, which also includes signing the Developing the Young Workforce Employer Pledge and joining the Inverness Chamber of Commerce. The company aims to ensure its presence brings lasting benefits through economic investment, employment opportunities, skills development and support for community organisations.

United Infrastructure also welcomed guests from The Highland Council, local councillors, businesses, third-sector organisations and community groups.
