Groundworks have finished and construction has started at the former Denny High School site, marking a significant milestone in Falkirk Council's housebuilding programme and its biggest new council housing scheme to date.

The £36 million development will provide 137 high-quality, energy-efficient homes for social rent to meet growing local demand. Designed and project managed by the Council's in-house architects, the scheme is being built by Clark Contracts Ltd. Site preparation and infrastructure work began in December 2025, with completion expected by November 2028. Homes will be advertised closer to that time in line with the Council's allocations policy.

The mix includes 22 one-bedroom, 63 two-bedroom, 41 three-bedroom, 10 four-bedroom and one five-bedroom home. Of the total, 25 will be built to ambulant standards and seven will be fully wheelchair accessible.

The project is backed by £14 million of Scottish Government grant funding, with the remainder financed by the Council.

The Denny project builds on ongoing investment in affordable housing. In 2024/25, 111 homes at Woodend Farm in Hallglen were delivered, and a further 49 homes were brought back into Council ownership. The former Denny High School development represents the next major phase of the programme.
