Transport Scotland's operating company BEAR Scotland will deliver the scheme, renewing a total of 2,186 metres of carriageway.
To safeguard road users and the workforce, full overnight closures will be in place while the works are carried out.
On the A68 south of Lilliardsedge, the road will be closed from 19:30 to 06:00 each night from Monday 27 July to Friday 31 July. A signed diversion will operate between St Boswells and Bonjedward, adding around 19 minutes and 12.2 miles to journeys.
On the A68 south of Lauder, closures will run from 19:30 to 06:00 each night from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August, and again from Monday 24 August to Friday 28 August. Traffic will be diverted between Carfraemill Roundabout and Earlston, with an estimated additional 12 minutes and 7.9 miles.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These resurfacing improvements will enhance safety and comfort for people using the A68 at these locations.
"We understand that road closures can be disruptive and so we've planned for these to take place overnight to reduce their impact.
"If you need to travel on the A68 during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.
"We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding."
