BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, will begin overnight resurfacing at three locations on the A702 from Monday 6 July.
Works will run between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with no operations on Saturday or Sunday nights. The programme is scheduled as follows: North of Coulter from Monday 6 July to the morning of Wednesday 8 July; south of Lamington from Wednesday 8 July to the morning of Tuesday 14 July; and Causewayend from Monday 20 July to the morning of Tuesday 28 July.
For safety, slip road and carriageway closures will be in place each night. A signed diversion will operate from Maidencoates Roundabout to Melbourne Crossroads.
Northbound traffic will be directed via the A73, Symington, Hyndford Bridge, Carstairs, the A70 and A721 to re-join the A702 at Melbourne Crossroads. Southbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse. Journeys are expected to take around 16 minutes longer and cover an additional 11.7 miles.
Drivers should be aware of a low bridge on the A72 at Symington. All traffic management will be removed outside working hours.
Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders in advance to inform them of the arrangements and help minimise disruption.
