Longniddry Village has been celebrated as one of the premier new residential projects in Scotland after winning the Housing Development of the Year (Large Private Sale) title at the Scottish Home Awards 2026.
The East Lothian scheme, jointly delivered by Cruden Homes and Places for People, was commended for its high-quality architectural design, robust placemaking credentials, and its role in establishing a vibrant new community within a highly sought-after coastal area.
Located in the heart of Longniddry, the development was meticulously planned to complement the pre-existing village. It features a blend of traditionally inspired exteriors and modern interiors, combined with landscaped green spaces, active travel infrastructure, and convenient links to local amenities. Positioned on the East Lothian coast, the site provides residents with direct rail links into Edinburgh city centre.
The accolade coincides with sustained buyer demand at Longniddry Village, which continues to attract a varied demographic of residents, including first-time buyers, expanding families, and downsizers looking for a well-connected coastal setting.
Hazel Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Cruden Homes, said: "To see Longniddry Village recognised at the Scottish Home Awards is a fantastic achievement. This success is a true reflection of the aspirational vision of the landowners, Wemyss & March Estates, and the commitment that has gone into creating the development by all involved.
"From the outset, the aim was to create a place that sits naturally within the existing village while delivering high-quality homes and a strong sense of community. The response from buyers has been incredibly positive and we're proud to see that recognised through this award.
"Longniddry Village demonstrates the value of partnership-led placemaking and what can be achieved when quality, design and long-term community creation are prioritised from the very beginning."
The Scottish Home Awards highlight excellence throughout the Scottish housebuilding sector, honouring the organisations, individuals, and developments that set industry benchmarks for quality, innovation, and customer experience.
The 2026 winners were officially revealed during a ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow on Thursday 18 June.
