Work is now progressing across multiple sites as Phase One of the Whitesands Flood Protection Scheme moves forward.
Initial activity is concentrated on preparing sites, clearing areas and putting in place the infrastructure needed to support the main construction phase.
Site establishment continues at Greensands, with activity at George Street car park to follow, creating a key base for ongoing operations.
At Park Lane, early clearance is expected to finish in mid-June. Piling is due to begin in early July — a crucial step in building the flood defences, with sheet piles driven deep into the ground to form a protective barrier.
Works will also extend to further locations in the coming weeks:
- Near Loreburn Primary School: site clearance is planned for late June ahead of subsequent works.
- Around the Rowing Club: mobilisation begins in late June, clearance follows in early July, and piling will continue over the summer.
Updates will continue to be provided as the programme progresses to keep residents, businesses and visitors informed about what is happening and what to expect.
