Strong Performance Sees JHE Post Increased Profit

John Heaney Electrical Limited (JHE), the West Lothian-based Electrical, Mechanical and HVAC firm, has posted an increased profit of more than £1 million in its latest financial report.

Results to the year-end December 2025, show profits broke the seven-figure threshold, the strong performance underpinned by repeat business from a loyal customer base.

A series of significant contract wins helped take revenue to £9.5m, a drop of £2m compared to what had been a record-breaking previous 12 months.

The firm's core electrical and high voltage division saw £6.4m of revenue, while the facilities management, mechanical and automation and controls divisions made up the balance.

Cash in bank continues to be in seven figures despite the company buying back shares back from two retiring directors.

Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) remained strong at circa £1m, and very similar to 2024's figure.

Mark Heaney, who is celebrating his 10th year as Managing Director, said: "We have seen another strong performance across the departments as we enter our 37th year in operation as a limited company.

"In 2025 we didn't expect to be able to match our 2024 revenue, however we are pleased with our performance thanks to the fantastic efforts of the staff, and we can all be pleased as a company at our overall performance.

"A rise in profits has taken us through the £1m threshold, which is a slight increase on last year.

"We maintained a strong profit margin in 2025 and retain a strong cash position, which is encouraging.

"With the appointment of three new directors in 2025, we are looking forward to a positive 12 months and are well placed to continue our strategic growth.

"Key to that is a particular focus on building partnerships with end users and blue-chip firms."

JHE's staffing levels have reduced slightly due to retirement, though the firm is confident this will increase as the order book fills up, while there are plans to bring in electrical apprentices in Q3.
