Essential structural investigation works are to be carried out on the A919-10B road bridge spanning the Motray Water, Fife Council has confirmed.
The project is scheduled to commence on the evening of Tuesday 26 May 2026. The works are expected to span approximately four nights, with a timetable specifically designed to mitigate impact on local commuters. Operations will take place strictly overnight, between the hours of 8pm and 8am, ensuring the route remains clear during peak travel periods.
The primary focus of the site activity involves contractors performing concrete breakout works on the bridge structure. While the local authority has stated that every effort will be made to minimise the disturbance caused to nearby residents, it noted that a certain level of noise is unavoidable given the nature of the structural tasks.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and the public, the southbound lane of the A919 over the bridge will be closed while work is in progress. Temporary traffic lights will be deployed to manage the flow of vehicles overnight, though these will be removed during the day to allow normal traffic patterns to resume. Access for pedestrians across the bridge will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Michael Anderson, service manager in the council's roads and transportation service, said: "We understand that overnight works can be inconvenient and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and cooperation while these essential investigations are undertaken."
