Community groups in Peterhead and nearby areas are invited to apply for the second round of the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) Peterhead Local Fund, with just over £400,000 available to back local projects.
The fund is linked to the nationally significant EGL2 subsea clean energy project and has already awarded more than £420,000 to local groups and organisations, supporting initiatives that are making a clear difference in the Blue Toon and neighbouring communities.
Applications for this new round are open now and will close on Wednesday 22 July.
Part of a five-year programme of investment, the fund is set to provide a total of £2,159,444 to communities in and around Peterhead. It supports projects across priority areas and reflects the project's commitment to leaving a positive legacy in the north-east of Scotland.
To keep decisions aligned with local priorities, a panel of local residents has been established to assess bids and ensure investment reflects community needs and aspirations.
Fionán Doonan, Project Director for Eastern Green Link 2, said: "We have already seen just how much of a positive impact the EGL2 Peterhead Local Fund has had in the community, with more than £420,000 awarded to projects that matter to local people.
"With just over £400,000 now available through the second funding round, I would strongly encourage local groups and organisations with ideas to benefit their communities to apply.
"Delivering a lasting, positive legacy in the north-east of Scotland is a core part of EGL2, and this fund is just one of ways we are helping communities to share in the benefits of this nationally important clean energy project."
Among the first-round recipients was Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust, which received £23,340 to support water sports activities for children and young people in Peterhead, promoting personal development and mental wellbeing.
Angie Fraser from Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust said: "This funding will allow us to provide opportunities for children, young people and people with disabilities who are facing, or have faced, difficult times in their lives. It will make a real difference to their happiness and confidence and help them develop a wide range of new skills. Our first session starts this week, and we are looking forward to a summer of adventures ahead. Huge thanks to SSEN Transmission for its support."
Further details on eligibility and how to apply for the second round are available on the local fund page on SSEN Transmission's website.
