It is not every day that a construction site is transformed into a yoga studio, but that was the scene at Central Quay last week. Irn-Bru hosted a surprise wellbeing session for the GRAHAM team as part of a promotional campaign for their new ice cream flavoured beverage.
The event featured the brand's mascot, Mr Softie, who is currently touring the UK in a specially kitted-out ice cream van. The campaign encourages people to "get in touch with their softer side," providing workers with a brief respite from the physical demands of site activity to focus on mental and physical recharge.
The session was led by Glasgow yogi Jacks Keith, who guided the GRAHAM crew through various stretches and poses under the watchful eye of the Irn-Bru mascot.
Kenny Nicholson, Director of Brand at IRN-BRU, commented: "It's not every day you see a construction site turn into a yoga class, but that's Mr Softie all over.
"He might look like he's made from girders, but he's here to show there's more to IRN-BRU than just the tough exterior."
The initiative was well-received by the workforce, offering a light-hearted break during a high-pressure week. Scott Bannatyne, Site Manager at GRAHAM Construction, took part in the stretches and said: "When I got on site today, I didn't expect to be met by Mr Softie and his ice cream truck. It was a great laugh and loads of the team got involved.
"He seemed to take a liking to me but not sure if that means my yoga was good or terrible. Either way, it was a welcome break in a busy week."
