Aberdeen Housebuilder Teams Up With Milltimber Charity

Cala Homes (North) has joined forces with Camphill School Aberdeen to provide locally curated welcome gift bags for buyers moving into its Woodhurst at Oldfold Village development in Milltimber.

The award-winning housebuilder has purchased bags assembled by pupils at the school, part of Camphill Estates (CRSE), to hand to new homeowners on completion at the popular Milltimber site. The collaboration forms part of Cala's Community Pledge initiative.

Founded in 1945, Camphill Estates works alongside five independent charities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including Camphill School, supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs.

Each bag contains produce sourced from Murtle Market — Camphill's sustainable shop, café and heritage hub — the organisation's social enterprise created as part of its Building Futures, Transforming Lives fundraising appeal.

Murtle Market offers fresh vegetables, baked goods and bread, alongside student-crafted pieces from the school's art workshop, such as seasonal felted items and woodcarvings.

The market provides meaningful work and training, allowing young people to interact with the public and develop skills from cash handling to customer service, while the art workshop helps them express themselves, regulate through hands-on making and collaborate with peers on purposeful projects.

Nicolas Nino-Ramirez, Sustainable Development & Social Enterprise Lead at Camphill School Aberdeen, said: "We really value the support from the team at Cala, and it's fantastic to see that extend to Murtle Market. Over the last year, the team have volunteered on our Murtle Estate and sponsored our recent 'Back to School' Quiz. Now, the inclusion of handcrafted items from our artwork shop in a Murtle Market welcome gift for new homeowners is a proud moment for the young people here.

It's difficult to put into words the positive impact our social enterprise has on the young people, whether it's seeing people choosing to buy something they've created, serving customers, or stocking shelves and managing orders, all of which build confidence, independence and skills for the future.

We look forward to welcoming people from the Woodhurst at Oldfold Village to Murtle Market for a coffee and cake!"

Nicola Lawson, Sales Administrator at Cala Homes (North) who oversaw the partnership, which is part of Cala's Community Pledge initiative, added: "Nico and the team at Camphill Estates do such invaluable work within the community, so we are delighted that we can support them, while also providing our new homebuyers at Woodhurst at Oldfold Village with locally sourced products."

Woodhurst at Oldfold Village, the current phase in Milltimber which launched in late 2025, features a modern range of four- and five-bedroom homes. With more than 280 properties already delivered at Oldfold Village, it is a well-established and growing community.

Prospective buyers can book appointments to view new homes, and an Open Weekend will run on 25 and 26 April, offering a chance to explore the development, speak to the team and enjoy the recently opened play park.
