BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out an overnight programme of resurfacing at three sites on the A82 through Fort William from Sunday 10 May. The scheme is intended to repair carriageway defects and enhance the long‑term durability, resilience and safety of this key trunk road.
Works will be delivered in three phases, overnight from 7:00pm to 6:00am. To protect roadworkers and drivers, a convoy traffic management system will be in place, escorting vehicles through the site at around 10mph.
To reduce disruption, no activities are planned on Friday or Saturday nights, and no works will take place between Monday 18 May and Thursday 21 May inclusive. Temporary traffic management will be removed outside working hours so the road is fully open during the day.
Phases and dates:
- Phase 1: A82 Belford Hospital to Nevis Roundabout – Sunday 10 May to Wednesday 27 May
- Phase 2: A82 Gleamer Garage to North Road Retail Park – Wednesday 27 May to Tuesday 9 June
- Phase 3: A82 Fort William Duals Northbound (West end to Transport Roundabouts) – Tuesday 9 June to Monday 22 June
Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland's North West Design Manager, said "These essential resurfacing works will provide a significant upgrade to the existing road surface and allow for the installation of new road markings, improving both the quality and safety of the A82 through Fort William.
"We would like to thank road users, residents and local businesses for their patience while these important improvements are carried out."
