RSBi has won a £275,000 contract to design and manufacture furniture for Swan Residences, a new student accommodation development in Glasgow.

Located on Swan Street in Cowcaddens, Swan Residences is near the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with an easy commute to the University of Glasgow. The building opens in September and comprises 105 studio apartments, each designed to provide high‑quality living and study space.

The development's directors appointed RSBi directly, without going to market, citing the company's track record, prior collaboration and a desire to support local employment and create sustainable jobs for disabled people. They were also impressed by the quality and competitiveness of RSBi's products.

RSBi is the manufacturing division of City Building and employs more than 250 people, with over half of its workforce made up of disabled employees. The Swan Residences commission adds to RSBi's growing Glasgow portfolio, following its complete furniture fit‑out of the Parkhead Hub — the UK's largest facility of its kind — which brought together NHS, Health and Social Care Partnership and community services under one roof when it opened in January 2025.

Furniture produced by RSBi will be installed in all 105 studios at Swan Residences, with the fit‑out now under way following several months of design, manufacture and assembly.

RSBi is seeking further partnerships with developers, housing associations and public sector organisations that share its commitment to inclusive employment and quality products.
