Scotland-based social housing contractor McTaggart Construction has donated £30,000 to Crossbasket House as part of its 80th-anniversary charitable giving programme. This contribution will fund the operational costs of a family room at the facility for one year, providing a dedicated space for families during their children's hospital treatment.
Located on the campus of the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, Crossbasket House offers free, high-quality accommodation to families with children receiving care. Since opening in 1996, the charity has supported over 12,000 families, providing 24-hour access to help them remain close to their loved ones during challenging medical circumstances.
Rosslyn Anderson, Director at McTaggart Construction, stated that reaching their 80th year was a significant milestone that the company wanted to mark by supporting the communities they work within. She noted that the donation reflects the firm's values and their desire to provide a place for families to be together during difficult periods.
William McGowan-Smith, Head of Partnerships & Business Development for Crossbasket House, expressed gratitude for the funding, noting that such support is vital in assisting the families of seriously ill children and young people receiving treatment at the Glasgow hospital.
Founded in 1946, McTaggart Construction now employs over 180 people across Scotland, partnering with local authorities and housing associations to deliver social and affordable housing projects. The company stated that its approach combines a focus on construction excellence with a commitment to creating lasting positive change within the communities it serves.
