Perth & Kinross Council has confirmed a multi-phase resurfacing programme for two sections of the A924 on the north side of Pitlochry, beginning Monday, 20 April 2026.

The works are scheduled to be completed on weekdays only to minimise disruption and ensure the network is prepared ahead of the Etape Caledonia cycle race on 10 May 2026.

The programme has been carefully phased to coordinate with upcoming infrastructure maintenance planned by BEAR Scotland on the southbound A9 slip road.

Phase One: Atholl Road Resurfacing and Patching

• Resurfacing: Commencing Monday, 20 April, between Dysart Brae and Larchwood Road. Works will be carried out under a road closure from 9.00am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, for a six-day duration.

• Pavement Patching: Following the resurfacing, patching works will commence in the same location on Tuesday, 28 April, for four weekdays. These works will be managed using two-way temporary traffic lights.

Phase Two: A924/A9 Slip Road Improvements

• Scope: Resurfacing works covering the A924/A9 slip road junction.

• Timeline: Beginning Tuesday, 28 April, and scheduled for nine weekdays of activity.

• Operational Notes: Work will be carried out under a road closure from 9.00am to 3.30pm. The site will remain open on the Bank Holiday, Monday, 4 May, potentially utilising temporary traffic lights, before full operations resume on Tuesday, 5 May.

The council has confirmed that parking and loading suspensions will be in place throughout the project to facilitate site safety, and temporary traffic signals may remain operational overnight and at weekends where required.

These infrastructure upgrades represent a significant investment in the area's transport network, aiming to improve road surface quality and long-term durability.
