Morris & Spottiswood Group has released its 2025 Social Value Report, confirming it exceeded its centenary pledge by delivering £118.6 million of social value and overtaking its £100 million goal in the year the company turned 100.
Framed around three pillars — sustainable growth, inclusive opportunities and community enrichment — the report sets out measurable outcomes achieved in 2025 across employment, skills, supplier engagement and community initiatives. The Group says it combines quantitative data with real-life stories to reflect the longer-term benefits for people and places.
Jobs and training highlights for 2025 include 125 new roles across the business, 3,981 hours of training, 40 completed courses and an early careers cohort accounting for 13% of the workforce.
Through its Early Careers Programme, the company has now trained more than 500 apprentices in total. In 2025 it supported 61 active apprentices, delivered 2,521 apprentice weeks and completed seven full apprenticeships. A further 17 graduate trainees and interns were in post, 76 work placement weeks were provided, and 935 young people were engaged through early careers activity.
Backing local economies remained central to delivery. In Scotland, 72% of the suppliers engaged were local and 59% were micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In England, 88% were local and 73% were MSMEs across the Group's 2025 projects.
Marking its centenary, the Group named The Lighthouse Charity as its 2025 charity partner — the UK's only organisation dedicated to the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families. Over the year, employees raised more than £7,000; 60 staff took part in the Centenary Challenge, collectively covering 7,200 miles by walking, running, cycling and swimming; and 10 colleagues joined a Car Park Sleep Out at the Huntington office in October to highlight homelessness.
The Group also collaborated with a wide network of community and sector partners in 2025, including Grow Speke, Brighter Living Partnership, Seascape, Mission of Innocents, Machan Trust, Women in Property and the Field Studies Council, among others. In total, 25 community groups and wellbeing charities received support to foster inclusive, positive local impact.
Stephanie Braithwaite, Social Value Lead, Morris & Spottiswood Group comments: "This report brings together the outcomes of our work over the past year, highlighting both the data and the people behind it. It reaffirms our belief that social value is not a standalone initiative, but a responsibility that is embedded in how we operate. It is a commitment that will continue to guide us as we enter our next century."
Jon Dunwell, CEO of Morris & Spottiswood Group comments: "I couldn't be prouder of the achievements of 2025 as we celebrated and marked our centenary – testament to the determination and hard work from everyone within the business.
"We are committed to delivering sustainable growth, inclusive opportunities, and community enrichment in every way possible and we will continue to build upon each year's success to ensure our operations always leave a lasting, positive legacy for the people and places it serves."
