Wheatley Homes South and Dumfries and Galloway Council will host a public information event on Wednesday 15 April to outline plans for the vacant site.

The drop-in session will give residents the opportunity to learn more about the proposals and speak directly with staff and external partners.

The project is part of the £130 million regeneration of Lochside, which will see existing homes upgraded, new energy-efficient homes delivered, better connectivity, enhanced active travel routes and more welcoming green spaces.

Community input will be central to shaping the development. During the wider Lochside regeneration, around 1,500 residents and stakeholders shared their views to ensure the plans meet local needs.

"Along with our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council, we have been engaging with tenants and residents in Lochside to get views on what the regeneration will look like. The redevelopment of the land that was previously home to Maxwelltown High School forms a key part of the wider regeneration.

"The event in April is an opportunity for residents to meet staff and find out more about the development of this part of Lochside. We hope to see as many people as possible attend, so they can hear more about our vision for the area."

Stuart McMillan, Head of Dumfries and Galloway Council's Economy and Environment service said: "The regeneration of Lochside is about creating a place that works for the people who live there now and for future generations. The former Maxwelltown High School site plays an important role in that vision, and it's vital that local residents have the opportunity to help shape what happens next.

"This information event is a chance for the community to find out more about the proposals, ask questions and share their views. We would encourage anyone with an interest in the area to come along and take part."

The event will take place in the Atrium at the North West Community Campus, Alloway Road, Dumfries, between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday 15 April.
