Morris & Spottiswood has successfully delivered a £390,000 infrastructure upgrade for Coca-Cola at its manufacturing plant in East Kilbride.
The project, which was completed at the end of last year following a 12-week programme, was designed to significantly improve the speed and efficiency of vehicle loading and unloading operations.
The scope of works involved a complex mix of demolition and new-build construction. Key elements included:
Area preparation and blockwork permanent formwork.
The casting of a new raised concrete slab and access ramp.
Installation of structural steelwork to support the new loading bay.
Framing and external wall cladding.
Final installation of a modern dock leveller system.
A critical aspect of the delivery was managing the construction within a live operational environment. The project team implemented meticulous planning to ensure that day-to-day production and distribution activities at the busy facility could continue with minimal disruption.
Paul Beaton, Development Director at Morris & Spottiswood, commented on the completion: "This project required close coordination and careful delivery within a fully operational manufacturing environment. By combining our structural, civils and building expertise, we were able to deliver a practical solution that will enhance operational efficiency at the East Kilbride plant. We are proud to have completed our first project for Coca-Cola and look forward to developing the relationship further."
The successful handover marks a new partnership between the construction firm and the global beverage leader, providing a tailored infrastructure solution to meet the demands of high-volume logistics.
