The John Smith Swimming Pool in Airdrie is scheduled to welcome back the public on 6 April 2026 following the conclusion of a major refurbishment programme. The works have modernised the facility, which has been closed since December 2024 to allow for essential infrastructure and aesthetic improvements.
Technical upgrades delivered during the closure include the full replacement of the movable pool floor, extensive retiling of the pool tank walls, and regrouting of the pool floor. The project has also seen the installation of a refurbished pool filtration system, alongside significant upgrades to the building's heating and water treatment systems. To improve inclusivity, new accessible pool stairs have also been fitted.
Heather Liddle, Active & Creative Communities Manager, said: "We look forward to welcoming everyone back. The upgrades not only make the pool more accessible, but they also create a much more enjoyable environment for all our visitors."
