Taylor Wimpey Delivers Safety Masterclass To Winchburgh Pupils

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland visited Hawkhill Primary School in Winchburgh this month to educate pupils on the importance of construction site safety.

The initiative comes as work intensifies at the developer's Seton Rise project, located near the school.

With the Easter holidays approaching and activity increasing at the site—where show homes are now open—the homebuilder aimed to highlight the potential hazards of playing near live construction areas. The visit is part of a proactive campaign to ensure children remains vigilant as the new residential community takes shape.

Peter Goldie, Site Health and Safety Advisor for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, explained the importance of the outreach: "Health and safety in and around our construction areas is of vital importance to Taylor Wimpey. Taking this type of proactive approach with local schools allows us to reinforce just how important it is for children to stay away from building sites, and it gives us the chance to remind the children that building sites are not playgrounds!"

The school has welcomed the partnership, noting that the interactive session successfully engaged the pupils. Following the presentation, students have been challenged to design their own health and safety posters. A selection of these may be displayed at the Seton Rise development to serve as a reminder to the broader community about the dangers of entering construction sites.

Kirsten Patience, Head Teacher at Hawkhill Primary School, added: "I was delighted to welcome Peter from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland into our school to remind children never to play near any construction site. It's great that Taylor Wimpey understands the importance of our children's safety and has adopted an interactive, proactive approach to appeal to our pupils.

"Following Taylor Wimpey's presentation, the children have been tasked with creating health and safety posters that will be considered for display at the development to remind those in the wider local community never to go near a live construction site."
