The JR Group has officially reached completion on a significant residential project in Edinburgh, handing over 31 new homes at the site of the former Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
The development, delivered for Home Group Scotland, provides a mix of 20 apartments for social rent and 11 for mid-market rent in the heart of the capital.
Located opposite The Meadows, the project addresses the high demand for affordable housing within the city centre. The construction firm utilised brownfield land to create the modern living spaces, navigating the logistical complexities of a constrained urban site.
Sustainability was a core focus of the build, with each property designed to meet high energy-efficiency standards. The homes feature exhaust heat pumps and are connected directly to solar panels, supporting the city's broader goal of becoming a net zero environment.
Gary McGregor, Managing Director for The JR Group, said: "We are incredibly proud to hand over this landmark development to Home Group Scotland. It has been a privilege to help transform the former hospital site into light, modern, energy-efficient homes that will serve the local community for generations.
"Prime city centre locations such as these are challenging in many ways to develop due to tight space constraints but provide a rare opportunity to reinvigorate brown-field locations in the heart of a well-established community, where people truly want to live. These apartments not only provide modern, affordable housing but also support Edinburgh's ambition to become a net zero city through their green technologies."
The completion of this project further demonstrates The JR Group's commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable housing solutions throughout Scotland.
