Cardo Group has announced the acquisition of Bellshill-based Trident Maintenance Services Ltd, marking its sixth strategic takeover in the past 12 months.
The move significantly expands Cardo's footprint across Scotland and northern England, integrating Trident's specialist painting, decorating, and fire protection capabilities into the group's national delivery platform.
Trident, which operates from its headquarters at Strathclyde Business Park and a network of branches including Warrington, Salford, Wakefield, and Bristol, has demonstrated rapid growth in recent years. The firm's turnover rose to £18.4 million for the year ending March 2025, with pre-tax profits more than doubling to £1.7 million. The employee-owned business is well-regarded for its technical excellence in the social housing, healthcare, education, and custodial sectors.
The acquisition aligns with Cardo's long-term strategy of investing in skilled local workforces and self-delivering high-quality maintenance services. By incorporating Trident's specialist finishes and passive fire protection expertise, Cardo continues to build a robust, UK-wide infrastructure designed to bid for large-scale multi-region frameworks.
Liam Bevan, CEO of Cardo Group, highlighted the strategic fit of the two organisations: "We're delighted to welcome Trident Maintenance Services Ltd into Cardo Group. Trident's people-first culture, strong operational discipline, and trusted client relationships align perfectly with our own values. Trident expands our national capabilities, particularly in the north of England, and enhances our offering across Scotland while supporting our long-term strategy of investment in skilled local workforces and supply chains."
Kenny Robson, Managing Director of Trident, noted that the scale and backing of Cardo Group would provide the necessary platform for sustainable growth. He emphasized that the principle of investing in motivated people remains the core of the business's success story as it transitions into this new chapter.
Trident joins an expanding portfolio of Cardo-owned businesses that includes LCB Group, Osborne Property Services, Jefferies Contractors, Breyer Roofing, and SERS Energy Solutions. The transaction follows Cardo's recent purchase of Northern Ireland-based CTS Projects, further solidifying the group's position as a major player in the UK and Ireland's building services and retrofit markets.
