Shetland Islands Council is proposing to expand the existing roadstone quarry by 4.94 hectares to the north-east, in the area of the south end of Outnabreck Hill.

Public displays of the plans will take place at Scalloway Public Hall from 3pm to 8pm on Monday 23 February and Monday 2 March 2026. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, with staff from the Council’s Roads Service on hand to discuss the proposals and gather feedback. These sessions form part of a Pre-Application Consultation under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997. Comments submitted to the Roads Service at this stage are not formal representations to the Planning Authority; there will be an opportunity to make representations once an application is subsequently lodged with the Planning Authority.
