A comprehensive programme of road maintenance is scheduled to begin on the A702 trunk road next month, covering the stretch between Dolphinton and West Linton.

The project, which involves renewing one kilometre of the carriageway and replacing essential ironwork, will be managed by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The works are slated to run from Monday 2 February through to Friday 27 February. To ensure the safety of both the public and the site teams, the project will be divided into several phases involving overnight closures and daytime traffic management.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South-East Network Manager, stated: "These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracking. Replacement of ironwork will also help to create safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

"It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway while resurfacing takes place, however we'll do this during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

"We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements."

While emergency services and stakeholders have been consulted, the schedule remains weather dependent and may be subject to change in the event of poor conditions. Drivers are advised to check the Traffic Scotland website or social media channels for real-time updates before beginning their journeys.
