Family-owned housebuilder Briar Homes has officially commenced construction on a significant new residential site in Kennoway, Fife.
The £40 million project has been named 'Weavers View' as a tribute to the village's heritage in the artisan weaving industry.
The development, situated on the eastern edge of Kennoway north of Levern Road, will comprise 123 homes for private sale and 14 homes for social rent managed by Fife Council. The site offers a variety of three- and four-bedroom properties, aiming to address the high demand for energy-efficient family housing in the area.
To mark the start of the enabling works, Colin Bennett from the Housing Growth Partnership joined the Briar Homes team on-site. The project is part of a wider expansion by Briar Homes into Fife, supported by a recent £10 million funding package from the Bank of Scotland intended to deliver 310 new homes across Scotland.
Paul Kelly, Managing Director of Briar Homes, stated: "We're excited to reveal the name Weavers View as we start work on site. Kennoway has a rich history and a strong sense of community, and these new homes will provide much-needed housing for first-time buyers and growing families. The name celebrates the village's heritage while looking forward to its future."
The Housing Growth Partnership (HGP) continues to support Briar Homes through its Regional Growth Initiative. Colin Bennett, Investment Director at HGP, added: "Briar Homes are a trusted long-term partner of HGP and we are delighted to continue to support the business growth plans through our Regional Growth Initiative, which enables HGP to support both Briar's current sites and those coming through its planning pipeline. We look forward to seeing the local impact Weavers View will bring, delivering much needed new homes to the area."
Groundworks are currently in progress, and the first phase of properties is scheduled to be released for sale in early 2026.
