Work has begun on a major new housing development in the Ibrox area of Glasgow that will transform a prominent brownfield site on Edmiston Drive into 160 new homes.

The scheme is being delivered by The JR Group in collaboration with Graeme Nicholls Architects and in partnership with Wheatley Group. The land was formerly used as a matchday car park for Rangers Football Club and has a long sporting history, including its past as the Albion Greyhound Stadium and a Rangers training ground.

The development, known as Albion, will provide a mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties, including a number of wheelchair-accessible apartments. Half of the homes will become social housing for Wheatley, while the remaining 80 will be offered as mid-market rent by Lowther, also part of Wheatley Group.

Designed to reflect the character of the surrounding neighbourhood, the project will feature two U-shaped blocks inspired by traditional tenement forms, with brick bay detailing, arched windows and subtle nods to the area's sporting heritage. The architecture also mirrors the nearby Ibrox Stadium through its curved forms and monochromatic red palette.

In addition to new housing, The JR Group will deliver a range of community benefits throughout the construction phase.
