Macleod Roofing Signs Armed Forces Covenant

Macleod Roofing, one of the Highlands' most respected roofing contractors with over 30 years of experience, has reinforced its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community through the formal signing of the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Covenant was officially signed at Macleod Roofing's headquarters, marking the company's official recognition of the vital contribution that serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families make to both business and community life.

By signing the agreement, Macleod Roofing joins thousands of UK employers in committing to ensure fair treatment and equal opportunities. Sandy Macleod, Managing Director of Macleod Roofing, highlighted the natural fit between military training and the construction industry's needs.

"Many of the qualities that make great roofers are the same as those developed in service – reliability, leadership and a strong sense of teamwork," said Mr Macleod. "We want to make sure veterans, reservists and their families feel valued and supported here."

The firm's specific commitments include:

• Guaranteed interviews for veterans who meet the essential job criteria.

• Flexibility for reservists balancing training or deployment.

• Adaptable working arrangements for military spouses and partners.

Macleod Roofing also plans to offer discounted or pro bono roof repairs for veterans or military families across the Highlands, alongside continued backing for relevant charities and remembrance events.

Ray Watt, Defence Relationship Manager for the Highland Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association, praised the move: "Macleod Roofing's pledge demonstrates genuine leadership in recognising the contribution of the Armed Forces community. It's encouraging to see a company so rooted in its local area stepping forward to make that support official."

The signing of the Covenant is the latest step in the firm's commitment to inclusive employment and community care, following its founding principle that success and community responsibility go hand in hand.
