DYW Glasgow (Developing the Young Workforce) has been recognised for its success in cultivating the next generation of industry talent, winning the Skills Impact Award at the Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) Accelerate to Net Zero Awards.
The award honours the Construction Aware programme, which is run in collaboration with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.
The programme currently supports approximately 250 young people, offering them valuable insight into the wide range of career opportunities available within the construction sector. The initiative was praised for its positive outcomes and partnership approach.
Stephanie Connor, Head of HR at AC Whyte, commented at the awards ceremony that the programme is a great example of "what can be achieved when everyone comes together in partnership." The positive impact on participants was also highlighted, with one young attendee describing the full week as a "brilliant experience" that helped them develop new skills for their future.
