Over 200 construction and built environment stakeholders gathered at Òran Mór in the West End of Glasgow for the Accelerate to Zero Awards, hosted by BE-ST (Built Environment – Smarter Transformation).

The ceremony, which followed the two-day BE-ST Fest summit focused on zero carbon construction, celebrated achievements across 11 categories.

The awards recognised businesses, organisations, and individuals for their dedication and contribution to decarbonising the built environment.

The winners included leading projects and firms focusing on sustainable transformation:

• Collaborative Partnership Award: Midlothian Energy Limited, Vattenfall Heat UK, and Midlothian Council won for their joint work.

• Retrofit Accelerator Award: Awarded to NHS decarbonisation work by Vital Energi.

• Technology Impact Award: Won by the One Stop Shop platform by YorEnergy.

• Circular Economy Award: Claimed by IndiNature.

Recognising People and Skills

Individual and group achievements in fostering talent and culture were also celebrated:

• Accelerate to Zero Hero Award: Winner was Matthew Clubb, Director at mwclubb.

• BE-ST Beacon Award: Won by Brogan MacDonald, Head of Sustainability (Building Structures) at Ramboll UK.

• Skills Impact Award: Recognised the "Construction Aware" initiative, a collaboration involving Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Glasgow City Council, Developing the Young Workforce Glasgow, City of Glasgow College, and FARE Scotland.

• The Diversity & Inclusion Award: Won by Changeworks.

The event, hosted by climate comedian Stuart Goldsmith, underscored the industry’s commitment to achieving net zero targets.
