Construction work has officially begun on an exciting new play facility at Cowdenbeath Public Park, marking a significant investment in local community infrastructure by Fife Council.
The project involves the complete installation of a new play area designed to be suitable and accessible for children of all abilities.
The final design for the play area was shaped directly by local input, with more than 170 people participating in the consultation process to share their suggestions and preferences. The new infrastructure will feature a wide variety of equipment, including an agility trail, a cableway, a four-tower climbing frame, various springers, a fairytale seesaw, and, critically, a wheelchair carousel to ensure full accessibility.
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council's Spokesperson for Communities, expressed her anticipation for the construction to be completed.
"We're all keen to see these exciting plans become a reality. This £150,000 investment brings additional play equipment to the park making it a valuable asset to the town," she stated.
The investment of £150k is part of the Council's efforts to improve the play area and enhance the park as a valuable asset for the town's residents.
Weather permitting, the construction phase is anticipated to be completed within the next few weeks, with the new accessible play area expected to be ready to open to the public by early December 2025.
