New Chartered Membership Route Launched for Experienced Roofing Professionals

The construction industry's focus on professional competency has been strengthened with the introduction of the new Roofing Chartered Membership Programme (CMP).

This dedicated qualification route, developed through a collaboration between the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), is designed to raise standards and officially recognise leadership within the roofing sector.

The programme is specifically for individuals with a minimum of five years' experience in roofing who hold management responsibilities over people, processes, or projects. It offers a clear and tailored pathway to gaining the professional accreditation associated with MCIOB status.

The Roofing CMP is a significant addition to the CIOB's range of sector-specific Chartered Membership Programmes, aligning with the Institute's core commitment to promoting professionalism across the wider built environment. The course, delivered under the banner "Pathway to Professionalism," supports participants in achieving a globally respected status that demonstrates a high standard of competence, integrity, and education.

Adrian Montague, Director of CIOB Academy, commented on the importance of the partnership.

"We are delighted to be working with NFRC to open up this new pathway for roofing professionals. The Roofing CMP reflects CIOB's mission to support all areas of the built environment in achieving excellence and professionalism. Through this initiative, experienced roofing specialists can now gain Chartered recognition for the vital role they play in delivering quality and safety across the sector."

The new CMP is increasingly relevant given the incoming requirements for proof of competency under the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA). The collaboration ensures the course content combines the CIOB's educational expertise with the NFRC's deep understanding of the modern roofing industry, ensuring it is fully aligned with today's construction landscape demands.

James Talman, CEO of NFRC, added: "This collaboration with CIOB gives our members a unique opportunity to gain Chartered status through a programme designed specifically for their expertise. It's a significant step forward in recognising roofing as a professional discipline in its own right."

Achieving Chartered membership of the CIOB grants professionals access to a worldwide network of industry experts, enhances continuous professional development opportunities, and boosts career prospects, as MCIOB members are widely recognised as trusted leaders in construction management.
