Construction work to upgrade Leven Bus Station is scheduled to start on Monday, 20 October. Fife Council has appointed contractors Gilmartin to carry out the £271,000 project.

The works include renewing the block paving across the pedestrian concourse, installing a new cycle shelter, updating wayfinding totems, and adding a new crossing point on the west side of the station to improve pedestrian access. Real-time information screens will also be installed to display bus and rail times, enhancing connectivity for passengers.

During construction, disruption will be kept to a minimum. Each phase will require two bus stances to be temporarily out of service, with advance notices displayed and station staff available to assist passengers.

John Mitchell, Head of Fife Council's Roads and Transportation Services, said: "Enhancing the concourse and introducing real-time information screens will make the station more accessible, modern, and user-friendly for everyone who relies on it, and it will mean better integration with the Levenmouth Rail Link and rail services.”
