CIH Scotland, the professional body for the housing sector, has appointed four new experienced professionals to its board as two long-serving members conclude their tenure following this week’s AGM.

The four new board members bringing diverse expertise across the housing system are:

• Ruth Robin, unit head (transformational change) at Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

• Laura Harris, housing need strategy manager at West Lothian Council.

• Lorna Wilson, chief executive of Barrhead Housing Association.

• Louise Butchart, head of housing, construction and communities at Dundee City Council.

The new appointees join as current CIH Scotland board chair Gavin Smith, service manager (housing access) at Fife Council, steps down, having reached the end of his term. Also concluding her six years of service is Donna Bogdanovic, head of housing and strategy development at Scottish Borders Council.

Incoming CIH Scotland board chair, Kerry Clayton, welcomed the new members, noting that their "unique insight and expertise" will be invaluable as the organisation works to provide the leadership required to move Scotland "out of the housing emergency and ensures that housing is at the centre of our political decision making."

Ms Clayton also expressed her gratitude to the departing members, thanking both for their significant contributions, particularly Mr Smith, who served as both vice chair and chair of CIH Scotland.

Ruth Robin commented that she has "seen first-hand how safe, secure, and affordable housing can transform lives," while Laura Harris said she was excited to "give back to the profession" after more than 25 years working in housing. Lorna Wilson highlighted the importance of learning, stating she is "excited to collaborate with others who care deeply about the future of our profession," and Louise Butchart expressed her passion for creating "inclusive, sustainable communities."
