Construction employers across the country are being encouraged to register for the return of the 'Open Doors' initiative, which runs from Monday, 23 March to Saturday, 28 March 2026.
Delivered by Build UK in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), the week offers the public a unique chance to go behind the scenes of live construction sites, offices, factories, and training centres, both in person and virtually.
The campaign aims to inspire young people and career changers to consider a career in construction. The CITB's Construction Workforce Outlook report estimates that the UK needs to recruit an additional 47,860 workers each year to meet demand for housing, infrastructure, and maintenance.
Tamsin Parkes, Open Doors Project Manager at Build UK, highlighted the campaign's impact: "Around 88% of visitors to Open Doors 2025 said that they'd be more likely to consider a career in construction after their visit."
Deb Madden, Executive Director at CITB, urged companies of all sizes to participate: "Open Doors isn't just for the big companies. We're encouraging SMEs to engage and offer their sites for visits to show the real face of our industry to potential recruits."
CITB will be welcoming attendees to its National Construction College (NCC) sites, including Inchinnan in Scotland, as part of the event.
